From Newcastle to Pitlochry, Aviemore & Inverness.
This outing offers the choice of destination for a day out in the Scottish Highlands. Our first stop will be at the pleasant resort of Pitlochry which has much to see and do including the Dam and salmon ladder, Blair Athol distillery and nearby Blair Castle.
Our train continues on to Aviemore where you can visit the Strathspey Railway for a ride along the Spey Valley to Boat of Garten and Broomhill used in Monarch of the Glen TV series.
We now travel over the final section of this scenic route to Inverness climbing Slochd summit and crossing the impressive Culloden viaduct over the River Nairn.
Our special charter train starts from Newcastle at about 05:45hrs, and picks up at Cramlington, Morpeth, Alnmouth and Berwick.The route is via Edinburgh, the Forth Bridge and Perth.
Coahing stock is provided by the Scottish Railway Preservation Society (SRPS).
After a break of about 3 hours in Inverness, we return home via the same route and stations, arriving into Newcastle around 22:30hrs.
